I’m thinking of wanting to become a family lawyer. Some would say excellent, while other say “there are too many lawyers.” To me since divorce is climbing and also adopting in the near future I think this job seems fit. Any family lawyers out there, or anyone know a family lawyer. What is their job like? What benefits do they have? What is the salary like? Thank you for your input

great idea- talk to an advisor at the local community college for more advice and pre reqs.
Don’t listen to that talk that there are too many attorneys, there are always a glut of incompetent workers in every industry. There are jobs everywhere if you are competent and care about your clients.
Family law is demanding because you typically are dealing with families at their worst moments so you really have to love the work that you do. Family lawyers typically do divorce, adoption and conservatorship. Most of your first year work is writing briefs and responding to discovery.
Typically first year attorneys can expect a salary of low 70’s with benefits. Understand though until you book your own business the billable hours that are expected are high.
